Applications
What is a sensor?
A sensor generally consists of two parts:
A "sensitive element" that is responsible for transforming an observed physical quantity into a usable quantity, such as an electrical signal, whose amplitude is particularly related to the concentration of a target pollutant in the air (gas or particle). See smartphone guide "PHYSICAL PRINCIPLES OF DETECTION."
An "electronic device" used for gathering information about the measured quantity, as well as for data acquisition and processing.
