Applications

What is a sensor?

A sensor generally consists of two parts:

  • A "sensitive element" that is responsible for transforming an observed physical quantity into a usable quantity, such as an electrical signal, whose amplitude is particularly related to the concentration of a target pollutant in the air (gas or particle). See smartphone guide "PHYSICAL PRINCIPLES OF DETECTION."

  • An "electronic device" used for gathering information about the measured quantity, as well as for data acquisition and processing.
